30-second checklist

Timing

• Install within a day before departure when possible
• Install ≠ always start the clock—many plans start on first data use; follow your product notes
• You can install on the plane, then enable data after landing

iPhone (conceptual)

1. Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM
2. Scan the QR and finish the prompts
3. Label the line (e.g. Malaysia)
4. Keep mobile data on your home line until you arrive (if your plan starts on first use)
5. In Malaysia: select the eSIM for mobile data; enable roaming if instructed

Android (conceptual)

1. Settings → Network & internet → SIMs / Mobile network
2. Download / add eSIM via QR or code
3. Name the line
4. After landing, enable its mobile data (+ roaming if needed)

After landing in KL

1. Turn off airplane mode
2. Mobile data = Malaysia eSIM
3. Data roaming per product notes
4. Test maps/browser
5. Then Grab or read airport to city

Common failures

• Carrier-locked phone
• Unstable download network → use Wi‑Fi
• QR already consumed
• Wrong line selected for mobile data
• Enabling travel data too early in your home country
